Sharne and Daniel

‘We don’t want a wedding-wedding, we just want to get married with the people we love around us.’

That was the brief I got from Sharne and Daniel when we first met to discuss their wedding. They wanted a low-key wedding that focused on the why rather than the how. Sharne and Daniel planned to marry at the Surf Coast home of Sharne’s aunty and to celebrate afterwards with woodfired pizzas, a cake made by one of Sharne’s dear friends and dancing all night long.

As part of their ceremony, Sharne and Daniel shared some of the things they love about each other, which neither had heard before the day. We learned that Daniel loves the way Sharne will run to stand a few steps above him whenever they’re on an escalator (it makes them the same height for kissing), and that Sharne loves how Daniel instinctively knows that sometimes, only a home-cooked meal followed by chocolate can ease the stresses of a hard day at work. The things they revealed were a mix of the light-hearted and emotional and prompted laughter, tears and one very loud ‘that’s right!’ from a guest!

Their first kiss as husband and wife was true to form, with Sharne standing on the deck and Daniel on the grass below – making them exactly the same height as one another! After some photos in front of the famous Aireys Inlet lighthouse, Sharne and Daniel made their way back to the house and celebrated. All night long.
