Diane and Alan

Oh, it’s been a long time between posts, I know. I believe it has something to do with going overseas for five weeks, getting engaged while away, returning home to begin the wedding planning and then throwing a big birthday into the mix. But I’m back now. And I intend to blog on a weekly basis once more. Do hold me to it, won’t you?

This is a wedding I’ve been meaning to blog for ages. I haven’t yet because I couldn’t find the words. Not because I didn’t know what to say, rather because I had too much to say. I simply couldn’t work out how to condense all the thoughts swirling around my head into a post that wouldn’t go on for days.

The couple I’m talking about, Diane and Alan, are the sort of people everyone should have in their life as friends. They’re kind, thoughtful and compassionate people and they embrace you with warmth and generosity. Spending time with Diane and Alan, it is immediately clear how much they value the friendship, support, guidance and love they give one another. It’s not an exaggeration to say that I felt truly honoured that they’d chosen me to marry them.

Diane and Alan first met almost 30 years ago, but it was when their paths crossed again nine years ago that they began on the path to marriage. On a beautiful February day, with the sound of birdsong in the summer air, Diane and Alan celebrated their love for one another under the trees at Lindenderry Red Hill.

In front of their  closest friends and family members, they exchanged heartfelt and personally written vows that moved everyone – and I mean everyone – to emotion. It isn’t often that I get goosebumps when I hear couples say their vows, but the honesty and passion with which they committed themselves to one another was so strong I couldn’t help it.

I learned and gained so much from working with Diane and Alan, so much so that I haven’t the words to express it adequately. What I do have the words to say, however, is this – I’m thrilled beyond measure to have the privilege of knowing them and now calling them my friends.

Congratulations, Diane and Alan. I look forward to many more celebrations to come! xx Koren
